James 4:8 (VOICE) - Come close to the one true God, and He will draw close to you. Wash your hands; you have dirtied them in sin. Cleanse your heart, because your mind is split down the middle, your love for God on one side and selfish pursuits on the other.
Living in this world can cause a build-up of fleshly residue. We live through trials, rejection, disappointments, sin, lies, depression, prayerlessness and more. When we dwell in the outer courts, we tend to cater to our flesh and what makes us feel good. As we approach God in the Holies of Holies, the residue of the flesh must be washed off of our hearts before we can enter into the Secret Place. It is no longer what we want, but it becomes about what pleases the King!
The Lord desires ALL of our hearts. Coming closer to, and deeper in the Lord requires a sacrifice. We have to sacrifice our fleshy desires and allow His rivers to wash over us as we approach His Throne. There can be no compromise in our pursuit of the King. We cannot give Him a lukewarm, divided heart. In Revelation 3:16, the Lord tells us, " But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!" The Father wants our love for Him to be hot, fiery, and passionate!
If your prayer life is feeling sluggish and stagnant, you may need a spiritual enema. A time of fasting and prayer will flush out the flesh and realign your heart. Time in God's presence will reignite the flames of desire for more of Him! As we continue to seek God's face to go deeper, let's ask the Lord to wash our hearts and purify our lives until we decrease and He increases and totally consumes us!

Heavenly Father,
I come to you today, giving you my heart, soul, and ALL of me! I bask in your glory and wash in your Rivers of Grace and Mercy as I approach your throne. The blood of Jesus sanctifies and purifies me. I prostrate my heart at your feet, and cry Holy, Holy, Holy!!! The fire of your Presence ignites my heart and flames of Holy passion spread through my being for You! You are the desire of my affection. My heart yields to You and You alone. I push past the flesh and press into your Secret Chambers. Nothing will separate me from You! Your heart draws me and I come running to you, with my soul lifted up in total surrender and adoration. Cleanse me and I will be clean. Purify me and I will be pure. Please forgive me for all of my sins. You are My Heart's Desire, and I decrease so that you can increase and consume me in Your Love, in Jesus Name, Amen.
