Day 20 Prayer

Writer's picture: Pastor Selah McLaughlinPastor Selah McLaughlin

Psalm 27:4 (AMP) - “ One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord and to meditate in His temple."

My gaze is upon the One whom my soul loveth, Jesus! He is my only desire and there is none other that I desire to worship, but Him. He is the One thing. He is not an option, He's my everything. All my desires are fulfilled in Him! Everyday, I long to find ways to bless the Lord and move His heart.

In a life full of cares, responsibilities, and not enough time, the One thing that we cannot do is forsake or not put emphasis on our alone time away with the Lord. As Christians, our daily entrance into the chambers of the Lord is our very lifeline. To bow our hearts and adore the Lord in His Majesty and Beauty, lifts our hearts into Heavenly realms to commune with Him, heart to heart and spirit to Spirit. There is nothing like the abiding presence of the Lord. When we come out of the Secret Place, we carry the atmosphere of Heaven wherever we go.

Gazing upon the Lord is locking our hearts intently on Him. To Gaze is from the Hebrew, chazah, which means to see, perceive, to contemplate with pleasure, look, and behold. It is not just a casual, passing glance. It is pursuing God with intentionality; making our seek a priority! The Psalmist David was so in love with the Lord that he desperately longed to abide in the presence of God, just gazing upon His beauty. Because David had positioned his heart in stay in constant adoration to the Lord, he found favor in God's sight. We read in Acts 13:22 - "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will." The Lord chose David to be King over His people because He knew that He had David's heart. David was a worshiper, who captured the heart of God.

We too, have the ability to capture the heart of the Lord. Our pure worship will captivate God's heart. When we pour our love on Him and make Him the One Thing in our hearts, we will gaze upon His Beauty forever as He meets us in the Secret Place. We are Seekers of the Deep!

From the Father's Heart,

Prayer, 01/30/2020

Heavenly Father,

I bow my heart before you in sweet surrender. You are the object of my desire; the One whom I long for with all of my heart! Lord, I love you so much that my heart burns within me. I'll do anything just to capture your gaze. In your chambers there are no words, just my love cry ascending to your throne. There are no other gods beside you. You are God alone, and I reverence your Holiness. I empty myself and wash my heart in your presence. I am undone by your Love. I gaze in awe of your Glory! Lord, inhale the fragrance of my brokenness. All I have to give to you is all of me. I pray my sacrifice is enough and is pleasing in your sight, in the Name of Jesus! Amen.
