Day 18 Prayer

Psalm 63:1 - "You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you."

Have you ever longed for something or someone so hard that your heart ached? There is a depth in love that can change everything about your life. It can consume your thoughts, your decisions, your very soul. Sometimes that thing or person is not worthy of that level of love and/or that love is not requited. But with God, our longing for Him is always met with a love greater than we've ever known.

When we read Psalm 63:1, we can feel the longing in the psalmist's heart. His love cry for the Lord resonates with a desperation that can make you uncomfortable. It's like being in church and someone is crying out to God loudly and the Pastor is trying to continue the service. Others may not understand, but his/her cry of desperation captures the heart of Jesus! Whether its an internal, quiet cry or a loud, external cry, the Lord hears and responds to the desperate heart. We see this over and over in the Bible. The woman with the issue of blood was desperate for a touch from Jesus. When she touched Him, it stopped him in his tracks and He asked his disciples, "Who touched me?" The disciples were confused. They were in the midst of a huge crowd, so of course people were touching Jesus. But Jesus felt this woman's touch because it was a desperate faith that touched Him. He turned, fixed His eyes on her and healed her. Her quiet desperation was answered. (Read Luke 8:43-48).

When blind Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was nearby he began to shout to Jesus--"And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10:47) The people warned him to be quiet but he shouted louder. He was desperate!! The Greek meaning of cry out means to shriek, scream, cry out loudly. He knew instinctively that this was his only chance to be healed from blindness. Only Jesus could heal him and he wasn't going to miss his moment with Jesus! His screams also stopped Jesus and the blind man was healed instantly.

The love that is consuming your heart as your longing for the Lord increases, is causing a desperation to be birthed out of you! Like the Woman with the Issue of Blood and Blind Bartimaeus, don't let anyone stop your pursuit of Jesus. When you call Him, He will answer!

From the Father's Heart,

Prayer, 01/28/2020

Heavenly Father,

I am desperate for you! With all my heart, soul and mind, I seek you. My very being is captivated by your love and your presence! My soul cries out: Jesus, I need you! Jesus, I want you! Come and touch me! Come and stay here with me. Just one touch from you changes it all. My soul is longing for the King of Kings. Holy Spirit, my Friend, my Comforter, the Revealer of Truth, lead me in the truth of my position in Christ's heart. I will not stop pressing into you, Lord. I won't let anyone or anything impede me from entering into your Holiness. My heart is yearning to be close to you. May my desperation for you rise as incense to you in your most Holy Place, and capture your attention, in Jesus Name, Amen.
