Day 17 Prayer

Writer's picture: Pastor Selah McLaughlinPastor Selah McLaughlin

1 Samuel 3:4 - "...the Lord called Samuel. And he answered, “Here I am!"

The Lord is looking for you. He is searching for the one who will respond to His call to come away with Him! His quest for a deep, intimate relationship with you requires your response. He wants to bring you beyond the surface and into the deep. His Spirit searches the heart looking for the one who will answer His Call.

When the Lord called Samuel in 1 Samuel 3, at first Samuel didn't recognize God's voice. It took three times for the Lord to call him, as well as instruction from Eli, for Samuel to realize it was God and to answer Him. How many times in a day do we miss or ignore the pull of God on our hearts?

When we quiet our hearts and cultivate our relationship with the Lord, it increases the sensitivity of our spirit to hear and respond to the call of the Lord. To cultivate means to nurture, work hard at; to work to make something better. The definition I like the best is, "to loosen or break up the soil (for planting)." Breaking up fallow ground is hard work. Fallow ground is land that is left idle for a season after plowing. Jeremiah 4:3 instructs us to Break up our Fallow Ground! It is a call from God to seek Him and become spiritually alive! Our spirits always long to connect to God. It is our flesh that we must continue to break down, so that we can enter into the Secret Place. I hear the Lord saying, "Come Away with Me, my Child! Come to my chambers and commune with me. Awaken your hearts and come alive. My Ruach is blowing upon you even now and filling you. Do not linger in the outer courts. Come running to me. I await you. I am caressing your heart and massaging away the cares and disappointments. My Love covers you, and in my Presence there is fullness of Joy! Come! Come! Come Away with Me! This is the hour of your visitation!"

And our Response is, "Yes, Lord. Be it unto me according to your Word! Here I am!"

From the Father's Heart,

Prayer, 01/27/2020

Heavenly Father,

I hear you calling me. I feel you drawing me and I respond to you with my heart and arms wide open in surrender. I lift up my soul to you. I pour my love on you. I am utterly lost in the depths of your Heart. Your love is swirling all around me, and peace is flooding my very being. Here, in your presence is home and I don't ever want to leave. I pray that my heart is always sensitive to your voice calling me into our secret place. Here I am, Lord. Take me away, in Jesus Name, Amen.
