Day 10 Prayer

Writer's picture: Pastor Selah McLaughlinPastor Selah McLaughlin

Luke 9:23 (ESV) - And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

Pursuing God requires that we push our flesh aside to press into His presence! The flesh cannot abide in God's Glory. One of the hardest things to do is to crucify the flesh; to kill our soulish desires that keep us from walking in the Spirit. Galatians 5:24-25 tells us, "Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit..." Our goal is to live in the Spirit; to be more God-conscious than "Self" Conscious.

When we place ourselves on the altar, we are giving the Lord permission to remove everything within us that keeps us from abiding in Him. We must allow the Holy Fire from the Heavenly altar to consume us and burn out the dross (impurities) of our hearts. The Blood of Jesus sanctifies (cleanses) us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are not our own because Jesus paid a precious price to redeem our souls. (Read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We cannot draw close to the Lord without repentance and cleansing. He is Holy and no flesh can glory in His presence. (1 Corinthians 1:29)

Let us crucify our flesh and draw closer to God in the Secret Place. To crucify means to put to death, which denotes that we have the power and responsibility to put our flesh under subjection to the Holy Spirit. We can only put our flesh to death by denying sin in our lives and allowing the Holy Spirit to completely fill us. If we feed the flesh with soulish desires, (what feels good to the flesh) our flesh grows stronger than our spirit. If we feed our spirit with the Word of God, prayer, fasting, worship and praise, our spirit grows stronger than our flesh. We want our spirit man to subdue our flesh so that we can Live in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh! (Galatians 5:16)

We are Seekers of the Deep. Let's feed our spirit, and Grow and Go Deeper in God!

Galatians 5:24 - I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

From the Father's Heart,

Pastor Selah

Seekers of the Deep Prayer, 01/20/2020

Heavenly Father,

I wash and purify my heart in your presence. I repent of my sins. Lord, I lay myself upon the altar of your love and ask you to burn out anything within me that is not like you. I purposely place my Will in your hands, so that your Will may be done in my life and not my Will. I am withholding nothing from you; I give you all of me. I surrender to you and ask that you fill me completely with your Holy Spirit! Drawing and staying close to your heart is my sincerest longing. I will push aside every fleshly desire that keeps me from you. I love you and worship you only, in Jesus Name, Amen.
